Defender Sam Hutchinson to sign new Chelsea deal
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sam-Hutchinson-c32287, the 22-year-old Chelsea defender, has signed a one and half year new deal with the Blues just a year after he was forced to retire from the game due to injury. A fresh graduate from the youth academy, Hutchinson was forced to retire after
a knee problem in August 2010, but that seems to be behind him as he looks to make his return to football.
Despite having retired from playing football, Hutchinson stayed at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and started working at the academy to pursue a career in coaching. However, it emerged that he could continue playing football because of which the Blues have awarded him a new contract.
Hutchinson said while speaking to the club’s official website:
“It is great news I have signed a contract. It is great to be back and I am looking forward to the future. I take it week by week and it is a slow process.”
The young defender revealed he was still not out of rehabilitation, but had begun playing full 90-minute games and was feeling fit. Hutchinson began with training three days to training four days and taking very little time off, which was good progress for
him and meant he would be close to making a return soon.
The defender is currently under manager Dermot Drummy, the reserve team manager, and is following the doctor’s orders for a quick recovery. He revealed he was extremely grateful to the manager of the academy Neil Bath for having faith in him and giving him
a chance.
Hutchinson revealed:
“I want to thank (academy manager) Neil Bath - he has been brilliant with me and I don't think I would be here without him.”
Along with Bath, Dermot and the player’s family have also been a great help for the player, Hutchinson revealed. Mean while, Bath was also glad that Hutchinson was back.
Bath revealed in an interview:
“Sam signed a one-and-a-half year contract and, should he make progress, we anticipate there could be a further contract but he is still going through the very end stages of rehab and he is still not training with first-team-type loading in terms of
intensity and demands.”
