Defending Champion Neil Robertson prepares for Judd Trump clash in World Snooker Championship 2011
World Champion Neil Robertson from Australia, is sharpening his cue for his opening match against the Bank of Beijing China Open 2011 Champion, Judd Trump, being played at the Crucible Theatre, on April 16. However, he fears that he might face an upset defeat in Sheffield as Trump has that tendency to turn the match upside down like he did in the last edition of China Open a few days back.
Robertson accepted that he would have preferred a rather easier Last-32 draw in the championship. He is the only Australian to have grabbed the World Snooker Championship title ever. He defeated the Scottish cueman, Graeme Dott in the final.
He expressed his thoughts saying that it was one of the toughest draws for any defending champion and it depends on how Judd performs in the match. He added that Trump will enter the Crucible as a tournament winner now and fans, and critics alike, are expecting a lot from him. No one had seen such determination from him before he won the China Open but now he can turn things in his favour.
Trump is now a ranking tournament winner and this win has injected a lot of confidence in his play. His confidence sure has the tendency to unsettle Robertson when they play the first match of the championship.
On the other hand, the 20-year-old Judd Trump is also ready to pounce on the table tomorrow and give the defending champion a tough fight. Trump clinched the World Under-21 Championship at the age of just 14 and entered the Crucible for the first time when he was just 17. He defeated the big names of snooker in the China Open 2011 including the former world champions Peter Ebdon and Shaun Murphy along with Mark Selby in the final.
Trump has been practicing with the ‘Rocket’ Ronnie O’Sullivan in the Grove Club, Romford, since he moved from Bristol to Essex last year. The Englishman said that he wants to take the place of Ronnie O’Sullivan as a regular tournament winner and not just some player with a timely career.
Both Robertson and Trump will go head-to-head on Saturday, April 16 in their first-round match of the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship 2011 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
