Defending champion Na Yeon Choi glad to be back to Toledo
South Korean Na Yeon Choi, who is going to defend her title at the upcoming Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012 set to start this week at Highland Meadows Golf Club, Ohio, has said that she is glad to be back to
Toledo once again, and will try her best to perform well when she tees off this Thursday.
The LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournament is scheduled for August 9-12, with a solid roster packed with most of the top-ranked contenders.
Choi, who has been performing well in the current season, has grabbed most of the media and fans’ attention because she has vowed to defend her title at Ohio.
Sharing her thoughts with the media about what she gained from the success at the 2010 Jamie Farr Toledo Classic, the South Korean star said that she was in high spirits after she hoisted the trophy, because
the victory helped her keep the momentum going in the next tournaments like the US Women’s Open 2012 and other.
The young prodigy surprised her fans in July after she racked up her first major title at the US Women’s Open 2012. Choi displayed a stellar performance and outplayed contenders like current world number one
Yani Tseng, American Stacy Lewis and Suzann Pettersen of Norway.
Choi said that the media attention had been sensational, as she rose to fame quicker than she had thought after grabbing the victory at the 2010 Jamie Farr Toledo Classic. She went on to say that the biggest
success she gained after that victory was clinching a triumph at the major tournament.
“I’m really happy to be back in Toledo. I was here last time when I had media day and then I went the US Open and I won. I had a great result after I did media day so I think this is something special for me
and it gave me a lot of good luck,” the LPGA titan said.
“I had a great result and I just came back here again with a big win from the US Open so I feel very comfortable and very confident. I can trust my game right now so I’m really looking forward to this week”.
