Defending champion finishes tied at the 10th position - Johnnie Walker Championship
The defending champion of the Johnnie Walker Championship, Thomas Bjorn, ended up in the 10th place right at the end of the event.
From the start, it was clear that he was not on top of his game. After the initial round, fans thought that he will improve his game in the coming round and will play his usual game. However, as the tournament entered the final rounds, all hopes were lost.
The first round began with a bogey on the very first hole. Many experts now took this as a sign of things that followed. However, on the sixth hole, he scored a birdie that was repeated on the eighth hole.
The back nine started with another bogey that was followed by a birdie on the 11th hole. On the 13th hole, Thomas shot another birdie, which was offset by the bogey on the 15th hole. The round ended with a birdie on the 18th
hole. The score was 70.
The second round was unremarkable until the seventh hole, where he shot a bogey. The back nine of the second round started with a birdie on the 10th hole.
The next few holes were played at par. On the 17th hole, Thomas scored another birdie. The final score of this round was 71 points.
The third round was eventful with two birdies, following each other on the first and the second hole. This sequence was repeated on the fifth and the sixth holes.
The back nine of the third round began with a birdie on the 10th hole. However, two bogeys at this point ruined the whole round. The first bogey came on the 13th hole while the second happened on the 15th. The round ended
with a birdie on the 18th hole.
The final round was a similar story with a bogey on the second hole. This bogey was repeated on the eighth hole. The front nine ended with a birdie on the ninth hole. The back nine saw excellent golf. Three consecutive birdies were scored from holes 14 to
16.
Thomas showed his form in the event but was not able to outplay the better players. Fans hope that he will better in the coming events.
