Defending champions' Chicago Blackhawks lose to the Florida Panthers 3-2 - NHL Recap

The Florida Panthers beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 at the Bank Atlantic Centre on Tuesday. The game was important for Panthers, as they looked to move into the National Hockey League play-off cut, as the Blackhawks needed a win to close the gap in the
Western Conference.
The game started off with the Panthers making full use of the home ice advantage, as they came up with some brilliant plays which saw them score thrice in first period. The Blackhawks managed to score twice in the second period, but no further goals were
seen in the remaining part of the game. The period and the game ended with the Panthers winning 3-2. Tomas Vokoun, goal-keeper of the Panthers, was named the Star of the Game, as he made 37 saves.
The start was decent by both teams, but the Panthers proved to the more productive of the two, as they scored in the fifth minute through David Booth from a well placed shot to get into the lead.
The teams continued to pile on the shots, but it was the the Panthers who came up with some venomous attacks which saw them scoring once again in the 10th minute. The goal was scored by Clay Wilson from a well placed flick-shot.
The Panthers leading were leading by two goals, as they scored once again in the final minute through Marty Reasoner from a quick fired shot to score. The period ended with the Blackhawks making 11 shots on goal, as the Panthers made 8 shots leading 3-0
at the end of the period.
The second period saw the Blackhawks dominate and score in the 12th minute through Patrick Kane and then through Marian Hossa in the 14th minute to cut the lead to a single goal.
The Blackhawks’ defence came up with a brilliant performance, as their offence was also up to the mark. They were just one goal away from levelling the scores, but even with plenty of chances to do this, they were not able to score.
The period ended with the Panthers leading 3-2. During the period, the Panthers made just 4 shots on goal, as the Blackhawks made 15 attempts.
The final period had the Blackhawks dominating the proceedings and coming up with some excellent pieces of play, as they had some scoring chances, but failed to find the back of the net.
The defence did a good job by not allowing any goals, but unfortunately for the Blackhawks they could not score and the period and the game ended with the Panthers winning the game 3-2. The final period saw the Blackhawks making 14 shots on goal, as the
Panthers made just three.
