Defending title at Canada will not be easy for Brittany Lincicome
American Brittany Lincicome may have had her eyes set on her title at the upcoming CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, but she is likely to face a tough challenge from her rivals when she tees off next week at The Vancouver Golf Club, Canada.
Lincicome appears to be in high spirits but she knows that clinching a victory at the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) once again will be an uphill task.
The roster has been set for the battle at Vancouver, and the Canadian spectators will see most of the top-ranked LPGA stars put their skills to the test.
Some of the key contenders confirmed for the tournament are current world number one Yani Tseng, Stacy Lewis, Paula Creamer, Suzann Pettersen, Sandra Gal, Natalie Gulbis, Laura Davies, Na Yeon Choi, Chella Choi, Shanshan Feng, Jodi Ewart, I.K. Kim, Christina Kim, Mindy Kim, Brittany Lang, Meena Lee Jennie Lee, Pernilla Lindberg, Cristie Kerr, and Candie Kung.
Analysts said that the field is pretty tough, and there will likely be several hot favourite contenders out there seeking to prove their worth.
Current world number one Yani Tseng, who desperately wants to get back to her winning form once again, can pose a serious challenge to the defending champion in a bid to further consolidate her number one position in the World Women’s Golf Rankings.
However, Lincicome will be putting her best foot forward in an attempt to defend her title as she has shown in the recent events that her game is as perfect as it was a year back.
The American star participated in the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012, held last Sunday at Highland Meadows Golf Club, Sylvania, Ohio. She kicked off the prestigious tournament in amazing style as she registered a 69 in the opening round.
Despite getting off to a sensible start, she could not maintain her form in the last three rounds and finished tied for the 31st position on the leaderboard.
Analysts said that it has become really important for Lincicome to defend her title, as Asian contenders, who are recording surprises these days by performing well, will pose a threat to her.
Despite how her rivals fare against her next week, the American golfer appears to be calm and composed. She boasts a stunning profile, having recorded five LPGA victories so far.
“I'm hitting the ball really well. I just need the putting to flip a switch. It's frustrating because last year I was really consistent. This year I finish top 10, or I miss the cut,” Lincicome said in one of her interviews.
