Defense Language Institute (DLI)?

am i allowed to go to DLI if i'm an officer, but not a linguist MOS?

  1. You must requalify on the ASVAB first (only if you didnt score high enough in the first place - good for 3 years). You will be required to maintain a TS4 clearence at the time of application. You will have to contact the OIC personel and get a letter of recommendation to your commander. Your commander must issue the orders authorizing you to the school and change of MOS.

    Field grade officer or higher must authorize it because your an officer.

  2. You'd have to check with someone in your immediate chain of command.  It's my understanding that the Military doesn't normally send their personnel to training that won't be applied to their job.  

  3. the only time Os get to go to DLI is if they are assigned to a Billet that requires them to know a language..such as Embassy duty.

    you won't be sent just because you want to go.
