Do you think the defense condition threat level has been raised?because

of the russian aggression recently.Russia threatening poland a NATO member and the fact that russia is asking for support from it's ally's for the action it has taken? If so would that mean ships and submarines

will be told too casually drift slowly in and out of maximum targeting distance of russian targets? would that be overly cautious even dangerous?

  1. It depends if you want to make something of it. If you want to draw the line there, then do. Does the west have more of a right to the land than the East?

If humanitarian aid is the key, then give it freely.

Ownership of a particular state is surely up to that state - and not an outside force.

Russia is already happy for Georgia to be a separate state. It does not need Nato interfering with things.

If a war was declared over it - who would really be the losers - the people living there. They have already suffered enough. This is not a battle over land ownership. It is about peoples lives. Respect the human cost of any action you take above the price of dirt.

  2. Well an institution was set up in Britain that you can check at any time online. It's called the doomsday clock. It measures threat on an international level. The closer it is to midnight the closer a war, atomic attack or terrorist attack is. Currently it's ten minutes to midnight, at the height of the cold war it was at 1 minute to midnight. Check it out for yourself at: http://www.catalaw.com/doom/

Also check the American intelligence website, I don't quite know how intelligence works in America, but in Britain M15 (Mi5 deals with national l security while M16 with international) shows the level of threat on it's website, it's currently severe, which is one lower than the highest threat which is critical, they even text your when the threat level changes.

The defense level has risen here in the United Kingdom therefore it will the same in the USA. I think however there will not be another cold war, and Russia won't take this any further, for if they do the whole of western Europe will stand against them, and most of western europe and NATO members anyway. Britain has the 3rd largest stockpile of nuclear weapons behind Russia and the USA, then there's France. Also countries like Germany and the Netherlands has nuclear warhead sharing schemes. So if war does come then the west has more than double the number of nuclear warheads the Russia AND china have together. So we're safe for now, as long as we don't attack Russia the certainly don't wanna attack the west. So we're in a better position than the Russians and also there are both British and American missile defense systems based throughout Europe, so if any missile are launched it will not have as much impact. All this information has an impact on the current defense levels.
