Defensive end Dave Ball re-signs with Tennessee Titans, terms of fresh deal unknown-NFL News
Veteran defensive end, Dave Ball, who has recently been through a phase of instability and doubts around the future of his professional career, will be returning to the Tennessee Titans on fresh terms in the next season.
Ball apparently was disappointed over the failure in getting another opportunity from Titans and the lack of interest in his signing off the free agency market from elsewhere in the league.
Some of his diehard supporters were concerned that the phase of instability and lull might force the player to call it quits, which they believed would be an immature decision, given he still has a lot of football to play.
Now, the confirmation of a new deal to him by Titans has ended all the uncertainty for him and he is excited over the chance of his second coming to Tennessee this year.
Both sides have confirmed signing of the fresh contract but none of the terms, including its tenure and value, has been disclosed. According to Titans’ managers, the deal was formally signed on Friday, April 13, 2012.
In any case, the new contract has extended the player’s stay in the National Football League (NFL) for another unspecified time period.
Ball became pro as a fourth-round pick in 2004 out of UCLA and has continuously played the American professional football league since then.
He played for the San Diego Chargers and New York Jets before joining the Tennessee Titans. Following to expiry of his previous deal with Titans recently, he made himself available on the free agency.
Until recently, he was reportedly unable to attract an offer from any other team, and eventually ended up coming back to his former employer.
All the circles closer to the player are said to be happy over this development.
It is to note here that Ball has built a strong reputation in the team and has a massive fan following. He is equally popular among his teammates and game supporters.
Ball joined the Tennessee Titans in 2008 and until last season played 51 games. His record includes 203 tackles. He sacked opposition quarterbacks 15.5 times during the period. He is also credited for pressuring quarterbacks from opponent teams for 43 times.
He said to have enjoyed working with Titans’ new coach, Mike Munchak, who helped the side finish the 2011 NFL season with an improved record of 9-7.
