Defensive end Mario Williams bright spot on first day of Buffalo Bills’ workout-NFL News
The Buffalo Bills apparently are over with their 2011 National Football League (NFL) season’s poor form and intend to enjoy their voluntary offseason workout, which started from Monday, April 23, 2012.
No player could be happier than defensive end, Mario Williams, who has just won a hefty $100 million deal from the management and is joining the team for the workout for the first time.
He spent the first day interacting with his new teammates, coaches and staff from the front office and getting versed with other formalities of the team.
Bills’ last season’s record was rather poor as they finished the regular season with only six wins and 10 losses, and some commentators noted it might be difficult for the players to get themselves over with the performance.
The players were projected to be coming out on the field in a rather dismal mood, but apparently the players have proved those critics wrong and said to have thoroughly enjoyed the first day workout.
On the first day of the workout, all the activities were limited to formalities of induction, where new players like Williams were formally unveiled to the squad by the team managers.
Williams spent last season at the Houston Texans and was a part of the team’s successful attempt to play the playoffs and won the American Football Conference (AFC) North division, for the first time in their franchise history.
Now he is thrilled to have won an expensive deal from Bills, which makes him the highest paid defenseman in the NFL.
Texans improved significantly on defence ranking last a year earlier as the joining of defensive coordinator, Wade Phillips, helped the team to build a stronger defensive line.
Williams was a part of Texans’ improved defensive scheme and had a greater role in the team’s performance and victories throughout.
He is coming in 2012 NFL season into his first year with Bills and both sides are said to be optimistic about benefiting from each other’s potential.
