  1. Democracy is a system of government by which political sovereignty is retained by the people and either exercised directly by citizens or through their elected representatives.

In political theory, democracy describes a small number of related forms of government and also a political philosophy. Even though there is no universally accepted definition of 'democracy',  there are two principles that any definition of democracy is required to have. The first principle is that all members of the society have equal access to power and the second that all members enjoy universally recognised freedoms and liberties.

The main and most important feature of democracy is:- Government by the people.

    Sounds really good doesn't it?

Does it really exist? I don't think so only in name, the only time 'the people' have a choice is during elections for public office, you will vote for whoever you think will represent your particular station in life and your personal standards. Then what happens when your rep' gets elected?

Do you then get to have a choice in whatever your rep' is going to vote for on your behalf? or will your rep' just do as he is told by his leaders.

Before I start getting mail telling me I must be a 'commie B' I am not trying to advocate a move away from democracy to any other system, but rather a big move towards more democracy, namely to get rid of our reps' that are obviously not conforming to the way we 'the people' want things to be done.

I don't mean we should wait until their full term of office is completed, I mean have a method of getting rid of them almost immediately.

  2. Citizens get to vote. If you have ever watched Jaywalking, you probably feel the way I do, in that some of these people should not be allowed to vote.  That would be undemocratic, but I don't want some of these knukle heads voting for NObama (for whatever reason they can come up with) and then I have to deal with the fallout of that decision namely no cohesive plan for health care that I have heard of, no plan for Iraq, a definate plan for higher taxes, etc, etc.
