Well,... according to legend, Merlin was continuously going backward in time as our time (and Arthur's) was going forward. So it seems that when ever Merlin slept, he actually got no sleep...

Oh wise one my humble answer to your most interesting question is "Space Time".  There was a man who was in Space Time for over thirty years according to Wikipedia.
