  1. Affirmative action= legal racism

  2. Affirmative Action is:

The term affirmative action describes policies aimed at a historically socio-politically non-dominant group (typically, minority men or women of all racial groups) intended to promote its access to education or employment. Motivation for affirmative action is a desire to redress effects of actual or perceived, past or current discrimination that is regarded as unfair.[who?] It also serves to encourage public institutions such as universities, hospitals and police forces to be more representative of the population[1].

Basically, its a process which is designed to incoprarte people from disavateded areas, and often minority races into the work place.

However, the affects of Affirmative Action are sometimes described by critics of the scheme as racist, because they favour minoritys.

  3. Affirmative Action is giving someone preferential treatment (job application, application at college, etc.) based on their minority status (race, gender, national origin, etc.).

IMO, it has a negative on the workplace. Instead of hiring the person that is best for the job, an employer will need to hire based on minority status for filing a "quota".

It was a good idea in the past to help combat discrimination, but has since become obsolete. There are enough laws on the books to prevent discrimination so we don't need to force companies to hire someone that is not qualified for the job.
