  1. Biodiversity is the relationship of the numbers of organisms to the number of kinds of organisms. A community with lots of kinds but few individuals of each kind is healthier (or less stressed) than one with few kinds but lots of individuals of one or a few kinds.

    There are several ways of quantifying bidiversity but the best ones are a bit on the complicated side.
