In every business there are two kinds of customers  -- Internal and External.  A security guard can perform duties such as directions, assitance with transportation and protection of visitors to a facility.  Internal customer service would be being polite and helpful to his companies employees, etc..

The customer is the one who owns the security contract.  That customer dicates how the security officer is to treat the public and members of the oganization.  Most of the time the security officer is expected to serve and protect internal members of the organization from the public, but this is not the case %100 of the time.

Security officers working for appartment communities often work for the owner of the appartments and looks after his/her intrests.  This would invlove protecting the community from destructive residents and reporting community violations.  In this case the officer is working against the tennants and may be called on to testify against them.

I have worked for a company experiencing internal loss of product from its wherehouse.  This is called "shrink" in the industry and I was hired to catch the internal thiefs.

That will depend on the type of security guard.

Assuming this is for someone working as security for an office with people, then they need to act professional and be helpful to those visiting the building and make sure they get the the correct place.  If someone is found in a place where they should not be, then they have to make a judgment call as to if the person is there on purpose or by accident.  In either case they need to be able to remove the person and be courteous unless assaulted.
