My flowerhorn is 4 inches (including its tail fins) this is an image from google, http://213.180.95.58/artregister/artbild/c_flowerhorn_huvud-lennart-axelsson.jpg it looks similar to mine except that my flowerhorn has smaller hump and much more pointed fins.

  1. at four inches it is hard to tell but since it is already forming a hump and the fins are more elongated I would take a guess at saying this is a male in the picture. now your saying that yours has a smaller hump but long fins. without looking at a picture of your fish I cannot say. a female will have more of a smooth slope to its head where the male will have more of an backwards s-shaped forehead. that is just what i have noticed. i don't know how much help I was. 4 inches is still pretty young to tell.

  2. I'm told you can't tell until they breed. Sorry!

(ps- maybe we could tell if it was actually a picture of your fish..)

  3. if yours looks like the one in the picture it is most likely a male...the hump you are talking about is typical of most larger cichlids although sometimes you a get a female with it...hearing about the pointed fins it is most likely a male as females have more rounded tips

  4. the fin on the bottom determines s*x.

    male is w/ fin

    female w/out fin
