I know there are a lot of uses of the word, depending on who you are and what you are referring to. Obviously there is "lush green grass"- meaning rich and abundant. I think lush also means something pleasing, if you are British.

But what is the most common/accepted meaning of lush as far as drinking (in the US). Is it someone who doesnt take much to get drunk, likes to get drunk/party but not an alcoholic, someone who acts really S****y/trashy when drunk, what?

  1. Well, I just went to dictionary.com again, and the 2nd entry for lush reads:

    –noun 1. drunkard; alcoholic; sot.

    2. intoxicating liquor.

–verb (used without object) 3. to drink liquor.

–verb (used with object) 4. to drink (liquor).

So it depends on if you are being called a lush or if lush is the verb (I can't think of how that would be worded... lushed? lushes?).

  2. It says drunkard, alcoholic, a person who drinks alcohol to excess habitually.  Is this you .......lol j/k?

  3. I think lush and alcoholic are pretty much synonymous.

  4. Generally in the context of drinking, a lush is a woman who drinks one too many martini's and gets extra friendly with the menfolk.

Example: Sandra Lee on Food Network is a complete lush!

  5. just go in dictionary.com and figure it out
