Define secondary document please??

  1. When you quote from the primary author this is the primary document. If another author quotes an author and you use this quote, you are using a secondary document. A big no-no, considered lazy work.

    An artifact, is an item that is from a period of time, a document, a piece of glassware, etc.

    A historical event is an occurrence in time.


  2. Secondary sources are books and documents about events that are usually put together quite some time after the events.

    They are often written by someone who was not part of the event.

    Using primary sources to gather different pieces of information, a secondary source brings it all together and shows you the big picture of an event.

    artifact - any manually portable product of human workmanship (see feature). In its broadest sense includes tools, weapons, ceremonial items, art objects ...

    historical event - any event that happened in the past. for your purposes it should be any significant event which happened in the past, such as a war, or signing of a treaty, or even a march or protest.
