..as a cost plus relationship with the pentagon, Haliburton is interested in spending as much as they can because they will get the cost-plus (profit) from your tax dollars. $100 for a load of GI laundry? good deal!

  1. It is not correct to suggest that Haliburton have a unique skill set. There are organisations all over the world capable of undertaking the activities that Haliburton was engaged to undertake in Iraq.

What they do have is enormously powerful, influential relationships and contacts in the US government which they capitalise on, as do businesses, whenever they are too close to government. Unfortunately in the case of Haliburton the President, because obviously the Vice President had no moral dilemma, did not see fit, on probity grounds, to rule Haliburton out from profiting in a war that was championed by its ex CEO, the Vice President.

When this sort of corporate morality is on display for all the world to see it beggars believe that the administration then has the audacity to suggest it invaded Iraq " to spread democracy". The rest of the world finds it hard to understand why Americans are prepared to support this sort of claptrap.

  2. ...but nobody complained when American companies went into Europe and rebuilt after WWII...how many of those companies had "ties" with government officials at the time?  My understanding of their role...they are in a great place to a. make a major difference and contribution and b. to make a substantial fortune.  Regardless of how they got there, they got there.  How does it affect civilian Americans?  Well, speaking as a civilian, it doesn't.  Personally, I don't care, I am not affected and life goes on.  Of course, I am not employeed by them in any way, nor do I personally know anyone who is...on the other side of the coin, those who do work for them and are involved in rebuilding Iraq are probably loving it...not for what they have to put up with while on the job, but they are making a pretty penny...and for some, that makes any circumstance well worth the effort.

  3. Haliburton is The Bush's Administration new definition of war.  Used to be wait until attacked.  Now it's go in, bomb to smithereens. bribe officials and place your own company in there to rebuild.

The act of a "Superpower" attacking small countires for natural resources is demoralizing to civilians of the U.S.-- at least those who are smart enough to know what's happening.  The rest are being had.

  4. Halliburton's role in Iraq is one of energy industry support on well sites. They are the only company in the world that does what they do and they do it well. The only efect that they have on civilain Americans are the ones that they employ!

  5. d**k cheney runs world

  6. Haliburton has a very good reputation within the military and the US government for being the company you go to when it has to be done fast and it has to be done right.

I have watched Haliburton in action and have been amazed at what they can do and how fast they do it.
