Definightly and Mayson to collide in the Duke of York totepool Stakes
Owing to the ground conditions, all the three expectant entries of the trainer Roger Charlton are not participating in the Duke of York totepool Stakes on Wednesday, 16th May.
Out of Bated Breath, Genki and Definightly, only Definightly will get to race while the two will have to wait for further chances that are on fast ground.
Charlton tweeted: "Bated Breath and Genki to miss York to await faster ground but Definightly declared and would like more rain if possible!"
Among the three, Roger Charlton’s highest rated entry was Bated Breath.
Definightly, Diktat’s six-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Perfect Night, has raced only once during the new season. He scored second in the Group 3 Pearl Bloodstock Palace House Stakes on 5th May at Newmarket over five furlongs.
The race was won by the 7/2 favourite of the race, Mayson who led Definightly, by ¾ of a length while riding with Paul Hanagan.
Settling third behind the winner was Elusivity.
It has been a while since the six-year-old has posted a victory and the upcoming race provides him with just the chance.
Even this time around, Mayson, Invincible Spirit’s four-year-old bay colt out of mare, Mayleaf, will be sharing the track with Definightly. He is the favourite for the race till now and has won two out of the three seasonal starts.
He started off the 2012 campaign with finishing third in the New William Hill Iphone App Cammidge Trophy on 31st March at Doncaster over six furlongs. The race was won by The Cheka while taking up the second slot was Jimmy Styles.
The 9/4 favourite of the race, Sirius Prospect, ended ninth on the track of fourteen.
Mayson then won the Connaught Access Flooring Abernant Stakes (Listed Race) on 19th April at Newmarket over six furlongs.
Mayson led the runner up, Jimmy Styles, by three and a half lengths.
Mayson’s very last win till yet was in the Group 3 Pearl Bloodstock Palace House Stakes on 5th May at Newmarket.
Mayson is heading for the probable hat trick of the season while Roger Charlton is holding up his hopes with the second seasonal start of his under charge, Definightly.
The two have raced together before and have once again got the crowds glued for an exciting race.
