Defining "Heat".?

Can we say that heat is necesarily infrared light. I know infrared produce heat, but when you have a hot object and you can feel the heat radiation... is that infrared light ? does heat express itself in any other form?

  1. Heat is the measure of the molecular activity of a body. Thus heat is the amount of energy equivalent to the kinetic energy of the movements of the molecule of the body. Heat is indicated by the degree of hotness or coldness of a body which is the temperature of the body. Heat is transmitted by three different processes.

    1. Conduction is the transfer of heat from one body to another through the series of excitation of adjoining atom.

    Convection is similar to conduction except that it also involves the movement of the molecules other than that caused by the heat transfer from one atom to another.

    Radiation is the transfer of heat due to conversion of the heat energy into an equivalent electromagnetic radiation. Heat radiation is not just in the infrared. Microwaves are also forms of heat radiation which are not in the infrared frequency.
