Definition: Deep vs. Shallow? How many teams are in a "deep" league?

How many teams are in a "shallow" fantasy league? How many are in a "deep" league?

In other words: a league is "deep" when it gets # or more teams. What number is "#"?

Does the answer depend on whether it's a fantasy baseball or football league?

Does it depend on how many players are on a team?

Are default Yahoo fantasy leagues Deep, Shallow, or neither?

It is not just the number of teams. It is how many players are on those teams. In other words, what is the availability of free agent players after the draft.

The standard Yahoo 12 team league is not deep at all. But a 12 team league that uses an extra c, mi, ci, of and util is deep. That is 60 extra players in the starting lineup.

I play in an 8 team league with an extra if, of and util player. That is a shallow league. I also play in an 18 team league with the positions in the previous paragraph. That is a deep league.

Sometimes the scoring categories also help determine this. Using holds for example adds to the pitching roster and deepens the league. Anyway, I hope that I helped answer your question.

An average baseball league is 12 teams..So,under 12 is a shallow league,over 12 is a deep league..

Football averages 8 teams,so over 8 is  a deep league,and under 8 is a shallow league.

i'd call a league with the average 18 active players, a couple DL spots,  and a decent size bench, deep when there are 12 or more teams
