Question:

Definition of 'subsite'?

Does anyone know what the 'official' definition of subsite, in regards to the Web might be?

For example, would both

http://flowers.gardening.com

*AND*

http://www.gardening.com/flowers/

fit the requirements to accurately be described as subsites of http://www.gardening.com?

Do you know of any definitive resources on the Web that spells out the definition (I tried the W3C, Google, etc...)?

Much thanks,

Bryce

  1. Here's an example:

    http://www.bofads.com is the site

http://www.bofads.com/stories/meeting.ht... is the subsite because it is a link off the main page.

  2. Subsite has no official definition as far as I know. All it would mean is kind of a 'site within a site'. A subdomain, on the otherhand, is a domain that is part of a larger domain. So flowers.gardening.com would be a subdomain. www.gardening.com/flowers would not as all you are navigating to is the flowers folder in gardening.com

    Hope this helps!
