Question:

Definition of a Yield Sign...Who Knows it?

This is so irritating. Why do driver's not yield when they have a yield sign? Here in Tulsa, no one...and I mean NO ONE will yield to on-coming traffic if they have a sign. And they wonder why there are so many accidents. If there is even a foot between you and the car in front of you, they will try to squeeze in. Who here thinks that driver's have gotten worse over the years? Who thinks that there should be more enforcement to watch the roads to prevent accidents from happening so often? Police are always getting civilians for petty things when there are so many bad drivers out there! It's just so ridiculous that the problem is so obvious but no one is doing anything to fix this problem! UGH!

  1. learn how to write a traffic ticket in absencia.......look up the law, you as a citizen have the right to write an ordinary citizen a traffic ticket....."but you had better be right!"  try using a video camera to record their deed and then start writing.

  2. You are absolutely right!....there's too many drivers who do not abide by the yield signs like they should.

To yield...means...if you have the yield sign..you must allow the other traffic to pass before you can go.

I can't really tell you why it's not enforced more...but...if an accident occurs...it's better to have some witnesses to corroborate your version of events about the driver who was suppose to yield..but..didn't.

Hopefully...if it's found out that the yield sign was ignored by the driver who was suppose to yield...that the officer on scene places the proper blame for the accident.

Just make sure that....if such an incident occurs...that you don't try to retaliate  in some way..because ..otherwise..you could be charged with roadrage...and you won't be helping yourself out at all that way.

It's really too  bad that...too many drivers out there are in such a hurry to go nowhere important...(realistically)....that.. they would put their lives...and other drivers at potential risk ..all because they needed to go to a store for something that they should've gotten earlier...and could've left the house earlier and prevented the whole issue.

Drive safe yourself..and watch out for the other guy.

  3. Yield means "give way".

Yes, I agree with you. Unfortunately you cannot control the actions of others. You must therefore babysit your fellow man when he/she is behind the wheel because of this fact. We are humans, and as such, lack in self-discipline.

There are more licenced drivers and therefore more cars on the roads now than there were 30 years ago.

The fast pace of our North American Culture causes a lot of stress for drivers and they lack patience and also have more distractions due to modern techological devices such as laptops, cellphones, blackberries, etc.

Manufacturers have also advertised the extra "safety" bling on new vehicles ( anti lock braking system, traction control, cruise control, four wheel drive), but leave out the fact that drivers need to learn how to properly use these features and know their limitations.

Any city/state/country budget only allows $$ for one officer per so many people. That's the system. We also need to use more self control when we drive.

Also, don't be too quick to become too self-righteous, because, you too will make errors when you drive....

  4. proceed with caution,  stop for oncoming traffic

  5. Different state and same story...........I live in Texas and I am sure that the people around here do not no what it means at all..........just drive safe and watch out..
