  1. When you already feel a certain way about something - either favoring it or disfavoring it. For example, when you go car shopping you may be biased towards SUVs, because that's what your parents drove (therefore, you are more likely to buy an SUV than another car). It's basically like favoritism.


  2. Swayed by a previous belief or standing. Comes into play when someone is in the position to effect change or is a decision maker for others. It is important that judges, juries, and many others do not have a preferance between 2 arguing groups or 2 groups needing advice or help.
