Question:

Definition of happiness?

I was thinking for some reason (don't as why) but that certain people value wealth as monetary assets, while some see it as the pursuit of happiness. In that case, how would you define happiness?

  1. Here is my definition of happiness. I am happy when  I have done what I wanted to do and did it as well as I could have done it. If i made the best decisions I could have made at the time then I can rest easy.

So, no matter what actually happens, and anything can happen,  you can say that you had a measure of happiness or that was happiness provided you gave it the best shot. .

And that is the way I look at it. It's the great time and the journey as much as the goal.

  2. I define happiness in the only way that I know, which is how I found it in myself in the last year.  I had to do so me soul searching, and cleaning out of my negativity on the inside. When I did this, there was my happiness still inside me just gleaming and shining as bright as ever.  I have never been on such a high as I am now that I have found my happiness.  I wake up in a great attitude, and have such a desire to continue to learn and grow within myself.

I use to think happiness would come when I found a husband.  But now I realize, you cannot base your happiness on anyone or anything outside of yourself. You must find it within, and then bring it out and enjoy it each day.

I know that my happiness is so simple in nature, and does not need fancy material items, or certain people in my life to be maintained.

I am happy, because I am human, and that is my living right.  And now that I experience it each day, I love it! And never want to go back to how I was before.

    Thanks for reading!

  3. Happiness is being free.

Even if all your dreams come true. There will still be struggle and heart breaks. Things that upset you little things that upset you. So no one can truly be happy for ever. Unless they free themselves from worldly things and mind. Thats at least what the monks believe. To have no desire mean to have no heart break, to help ends people suffering offer a priceless reward. All in it self. Happiness is just being free.

  4. To me; happiness means knowing who I am, my purpose in life, and being content w/ what I have; most importantly, the love and support of my family and friends.

Early on in life, I have never put 'riches' as a goal I have for myself. Nor did I put much value on materialistic things especially jewelry; gold or silver.

To this date, happiness means being my own self, living my life the way I choose to without conforming to societal demands to look a certain way, have an outlandish and lavish life style, or make a lot of money to be able to afford the most expensive cars, live in a mansion, or have the most expensive designer clothes and jewelry.

Happiness just means, really no worries, and seeing how happy everyone else in your immediate family is.  Happiness means just having enough income to be content so that I can cherish what really matters; love and respect.
