  1. Reducciones and Doctrinas - these terms refer to the Spanish colonial policies of reducing the native populations and then converting those that remained.

    Real situado - this was the annual allotment of money sent from one spanish colony to another.  It was a colony of New Spain, so its real situado probably came from Mexico.

    Bandala - a major ingredient in hemp rope that was widely sought after and found in the Philippines.

    Polo y servico - forced labor system

    pueblo-municipio-provincia - probably the levels of government - village, city, province

    corregimiento-ciudades/ villas - management of the cities and villas with divisions, like a department

    recopilacion - far as I can tell, a decree preventing secular works from going to the spanish colonies.

    real decreto - royal decree; Kings' laws

    lengua espanyola (espanola) - Spanish language

    ferrocaril - railway system

    tranvia - train or tram
