The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international striker was impressive in last night’s 1-3 win against Reading at the Madejski Stadium. Tottenham had been without a win for a while now, securing only 2 points from their first 3 games in the league.
Reading themselves had experienced a slow start to their Premier League campaign, and were eager to win manager Brian McDermott his first three points in the English top flight. With both teams going for the kill, the game was set up to be a thrilling encounter.
However, Tottenham proved to be too good for the Royals on the evening as they cruised to a 1-3 victory. Defoe had opened the scoring, grabbing a goal in the 18th minute to calm the nerves.

"Hopefully the fans are happy and everyone who has doubted us can look at us and think we'll do well this season. That's what we wanted, just to settle us down. When we got the second goal, we passed it a lot more and [we] could control the game.”
"When it's just 1-0, we panic a little bit because obviously we've conceded late goals. It's something we wanted to get out of our game really."
Speaking about his individual performance, Defoe added:
"Today we had a lot of the ball, so it's just a case of being clever and making sure your movement is good, and I did that today."
