Tottenham Hotspur striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 has complete faith in new manager Andre Villas-Boas and insists that it will take some time for the team to settle in and get results.
The striker seems to have found rejuvenated form ever since the Portuguese tactician was appointed as Spurs manager. The player had seen himself restricted to the bench under former boss Harry Redknapp, and had to make do with a fringe role.
Despite this, Defoe still managed to be clinical and scored a number of important goals for the club. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international was however not happy with his role at the club, and was linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.
The player had publicly expressed his desire for more playing time last month, and said that he will be forced to leave the club if not guaranteed a bigger role and more playing time. Villas-Boas however said that Defoe was an important part of his plans,
and he would like the player to stay.
Defoe signed a contract extension in the summer, and looked to prove his ability as he started in Tottenham's Premier League opener against Newcastle. Tottenham went on to lose that game, but Defoe managed an equalizer in the second half of the game.
Since then, Tottenham have failed to win a Premier League game, drawing two at home against West Brom and Norwich City. Many fans were left disgruntled after the team's disappointing draw with Norwich, and the players were booed off the pitch.
Defoe however remains optimistic and believes that Villas-Boas will come good at Tottenham, and only needs some time.
“We've got a good squad, a strong squad, and I think we'll be fine. It's only normal that a new manager comes in with new ideas and a new formation.”
“We're playing a different style this year. It's going to take time but when we adapt it will be fine."
“I feel a lot more settled and I'm just getting on with playing well for my club. When you know you've actually signed a contract then you can focus and get down to work.”
