http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 recently signed a new three-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur, despite reports linking him with a move away from White Hart Lane.
The striker ended all speculation when he signed a new contract with the club he joined in 2004. Despite numerous reports that linked him with a move away from the club, Defoe has extended his stay in North London.
The player has been one of Tottenham’s most prolific and influential goal scorers and has managed a total of 119 goals in 300 appearances, which is a very impressive figure for the 29-year old England international.
Defoe had been restricted to the bench under former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp last season, but has been given a chance by new boss Andre Villas-Boas.
Despite starting most games from the bench, the striker still managed an impressive 17 goals for the club last season. Defoe’s ability as a goal scorer has never been in doubt, and the player has been responsible for some of the most wonderful goals Tottenham
have scored.
Last month, the player revealed that he might be forced to leave the club that he loved if not guaranteed a more important role this season. There had been reports that linked the player with a move to QPR, but nothing materialized.
The player however put all speculation to rest by recently announcing on his official Twitter account that he had signed a new deal with the club.
"Fantastic week signed my new contract at Spurs & meeting up with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 on Monday for two important games #goalsgoalsgoals."
The 29-year old striker was included in the England squad by Roy Hodgson for their World Cup qualifiers against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032.
It looks like the player’s career has suddenly taken a turn for the better. His performances for Tottenham so far have also been impressive as the player grabbed an equalizer for the club against Newcastle United and also scored against West Brom, only to
be denied by the linesman for being offside.
At the moment, Tottenham only have two strikers at their disposal, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 the first choice after the club signed him on a permanent deal last week from Manchester City.
Spurs are understood to be in the market for another striker, and with only hours remaining till the transfer window shuts down, time is certainly of the essence.
