Defoe struggling to get fit
Jermain Colin Defoe has to undergo a surgery next week. The Striker from England is suffering from groin injury which is creating a hurdle in his performance.
The twenty seven years old veteran is unable to perform to his fullest these days. Defoe also plays for Tottenham Hotspurs in the domestic League football. He suffered injury during the world cup and is now compelled to go through an operation. It is reported that the Briton might miss England’s Euro Cup 2012 qualifier matches. But still, there is some good news for his fans as the ace striker will be available for the match against Young Boys.
England will start its Euro Cup qualification battle by playing against Switzerland and Bulgaria on the third and fifth of September. It would be a real disappointment for the English striker as he would have to see the matches as a spectator. The groin injury is making him sit these days and he is not at all comfortable with this. Defoe had earlier also missed his club’s last week visit to Stoke. He now will sit outside the playing field during the English Premier League matches against West Brom United and Wolves.
Defoe’s current condition doesn’t seem satisfactory at all but still the Tottenham Spurs’ manager Harry Redknapp is very confident of him playing his part against Young Boys next week. Redknapp is of the view that the striker will also be able to play against Wigan in the English Premier League match this weekend. Despite the injury, Defoe will indeed try to give his best at these upcoming matches of Tottenham Hotspurs.
Redknapp while talking to the media, further said that the club is very conscious about Defoe’s fitness and will try to give him rest so that he can fully recover from his injury as soon as possible. He said that we are currently focusing more on his future fitness and are completely sure that Defoe will get back to normal very soon and will again be shooting goals.
