Deforestation question?

If we are currently destroying 60 acres of tropical forest every minute (approx 32,000,000 acres per year), how many years until the worlds tropical forests are gone?

And how can such mass destruction occur without a worldwide cry?

Deforestation is part of a country maturation process.  When Americans were settling the new continent they were deforesting it and making room for agriculture.  When industry reached a certain level of technology and the economy was such that they weren't dependent on trees as fuel, the forestry field began to reforest the new land.  Today there is more forested land in the U.S. than there was when the pilgrims found it.  I believe once the technology advances in those countries that are deforesting the rain forest, then they will begin to practice conservation just as we did.

There is a worldwide cry, it is just that such a huge portion of ears are buried under the sand with their owner's heads, that they will not hear.

People would rather be lied to and lie to themselves than actually have to stand up and fight for something as important as the only vessel in which we have to ride.

We need to stop deforestation... start by donating to a preservation fund (make sure it is a well-known one with a good reputation), and know that you are doing your part!
