  1. defragmenting  your computer makes files and folders open faster

  2. ssd does not require defrag

  3. When you uninstall a prog, delete pics vids etc it leaves an open spot on your hard drive. When you install a prog it will then fill those empty spots. A program can be in a lot of different parts of the hard drives instead of in one single spot meaning its fragmented. Hard drive works harder and takes more time running all over the hard drive to run that prog. Defragmenting simple takes those programs and rearranges them so they are in one spot--called contiguous. You always want to do the defrag last when you are cleaning a rig up. If you defrag a drive then you do a disc cleanup or uninstall and delete stuff then you, again, have open spots on your drive and your new progs will be fragmented when you install them. If you use hibernation its always a good idea to do a defrag on your computer more often because hibernation is notorious for fragmenting the hard drive.

  4. What it does is to rearrange the information on your hard drive.  As you delete things from your computer, it leaves empty space.  This combines those spaces so there is one large spot of free space instead of lots of small spaces of free spots.  It will not delete anything, and it will not harm your computer at all.  It's good to do once a month or so.

  5. Over time, the data on your hard drive gets scattered. Taking the time to defrag computers puts your data back into sequential order, making it easier for Windows to access it. As a result, the performance of your computer will improve if you defrag the computer.

You can also download third-party software which for more robust options and features. Auslogics Registry Defrag is the best free registry defrag program.

You should also run CCleaner, which is free and will remove unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It will also clean your registry.
