Defunct Indian Cricket League’s former players and coaches condemn league’s possible return – Cricket News Update
As the organisers of the defunct Indian Cricket League (ICL) are anticipating a return, following Lalit Modi’s revelations about its forced closure, the former players and coaches of the league have come up with dissenting views to oppose the tournament’s
resumption.
It is due to the financial corruptions and managerial issues that the league had during its peak, that the former participants are condemning its return.
As per reports, many players still have their remunerations pending with the league.
The ICL was outlawed in 2009 following the Indian Premier League’s block buster success during the inaugural edition of 2008.

Cricket League in order to give a free ground for IPL to flourish.
Modi’s confessions have provided the ICL managers a solid ground to defend their case, that has been pending with the court of law since two years and they hope that their league will see the light of day following the recent developments.
The news of the ICL’s would-be resurgence has sparked anger among its former players, who do not want to be part of the ‘rebel league’ again.

A former assistant coach of the league, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Karsan-Devjibhai-Ghavri-c70336, said, “It is not just players, but also coaches and the support staff, who have not got their dues. They still owe me around Rs. 25 lakh. Initially, for the first couple of years it was all good, but
later on it started getting very bitter. The salaries were delayed, training sessions were irregular, it was all in a mess.”
On the other hand, some analysts believe that the ICL is not likely to resume as the IPL is going well and the BCCI cannot accommodate two domestic tournaments of the same format.
