Degas Art primed to perform well in Novices’ Chase – Carlisle Preview
Degas Art is determined to complete his hat-trick by finishing first in the Bet Totequadpot Text Tote To 89660 Novices’ Chase which will take place at Carlisle racecourse on Saturday, April 7.
The Lucinda Russell-trained bay gelding is all set to compete against four potential runners including Rich Lord, Double Expresso, Political Paddy and Sheepclose.
The high-voltage Class 3 contest over 2m4f distance is scheduled to start at 2:50 (GMT). There is reserved £4,874 of prize money for the mega marathon.
Degas Art is on a hat-trick. The nine-year-old veteran horse excellently won two races in a row during the last month. Prior to this, he had grabbed 3rd and 2nd spots in two contests during the month of January.
During May-June 2011, the brilliant gelding bagged a couple of consecutive victories. After making his debut on September 17, 2005, he won four races in a row from September 2006 to February 2007.
Overall, Degas Art has won 9 out of his 36 starts to date, earning £118,820 as prize money. These marvellous marks have made him a hot favourite contender for the Chase title.
If the ace horse manages to run to his utmost, his chances to finish first in the race will be as high as 95 percent.
Among Degas Art’s competitors, Double Expresso and Rick Lord are likely to struggle hard for success.
Double Expresso elegantly won the first two races of his career during April-December 2009. The Chris Grant-trained bay gelding moved forward to bag another big victory in March 2010. He notched up 3rd and 2nd positions in his last
two outings.
On the other hand, Rich Lord finished first in the last start of his career on March 8, 2012. Prior to this, Ferdy Murphy’s bay gelding had gained runner-up rank in a race on February 19.
In this situation, there is going to be a rip-roaring clash at Carlisle. Success will definitely be a hard nut to crack for Degas Art. Let us see how the favourite gelding makes his way towards victory. Good luck to all the runners.
