He was leaving this party that was originally held for Liberty (it was her birthday) at Emma's house while her parents were away. He left to tell Liberty that he still loved her even though he was going out with Mia. Liberty had told him she still loved him earlier but he never responded so she left. The kids from Lakehurst, that had been kicked out of the party, were peeing on his car when he came up to it. At that point, when he was going to open the car some weird redheaded dude (Drake) stabs him in the back. And Liberty was the one who found him.
