Dehumidifier?

Someone lent me a dehumidifier with no instructions. Our basement is really humid and i would like to get it as dry as possible. Should I set the teperature higher or lower? Its set at 70 but wasnt sure if i should lower it to like 65-60

  1. Cold air holds less humidity (so the same amount of water in the air appears as higher humidity). So the best way to dehumidify would be to turn the temperature down and run the dehumidifier to drop the water out of the air. Then you can raise the temperature up and lower the relative humidity. Be careful not to lower the temperature too much or the humidity will come out of the air and just wet everything in your basement. Also make sure to empty the water out of your dehumidifier often.    Best of luck.
