The Olympique Lyonnais defender has made a great start to the new campaign and is keen on further realising true potential
Against AC Ajaccio (2-0, Week 5 of Ligue 1) and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 coach, Remi Garde chose to align Dejan Lovren with summer signing Milan Bisevac. The duo paired up well together and has done much good to the team’s defence
in recent weeks, participating vigorously in Remi Garde’s preferred philosophy.
And, Lovren is very happy to become an integral part of the defensive axis. The 23-year-old is relishing the prospect of being an important player and is looking forward to have his first injury-free campaign for Les Gones.
“I am important here and I like it. If I’m not injured, it can be a great season, as I have not yet done so at Lyon.”
Arrived at the Stade de Gerland in January 2010 with the label of one of the greatest hopes of Croatian football from Dinamo Zagreb, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dejan-Lovren-c10779 has often spent more time on the treatment table than he has on the pitch. Never being able to fully justify
Lyon’s investment of 10 million euros in him, the defender is now looking to finally explode.
And, Lovren realises that the dimensions of being a great defender have changed a lot as it has become important for defenders to be good readers of the game.
“Earlier, central defenders were 2m, 100 kg and were aggressive tacklers. Today, it is necessary to read the game first to be a smart guy. This is what makes the difference for a top player.”
Talking about the aspect of his regular participation, OL intend to do everything to make sure that the young defender stays fit throughout the season.
While talking to reporters, Lyon’s fitness coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-c29254 Muller, he feels that the Croatian can surpass him.
“It is expected that he can repeat his qualities from 1st to 95th minute. However, must first work on his endurance. Patrick Muller, he was not Lovren, but he was the Patrick Muller every Wednesday and every Saturday.”
Muller played for Les Gones twice and is still considered as one of the best defenders the club ever had. And, if Lovren manages to stay fit, he can certainly surpass the former Swiss international’s achievements.
