The Internazionale veteran is keen to put the disappointment of this season behind him, and wants to end the season strongly starting from their next Serie A tie.
After years of success in Serie A and Europe, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan’s current season is one to forget for their fans.
The 2011/12 season is destined to be trophy-less with the Nerazzurri languishing in the 7th spot of the Serie A table.
Stankovic has been part of the squad which went on that horrendous run of nine matches without a victory, so inadvertently they did not win in two months. This has led to heavy criticism of the players and the coach alike, with
former players blasting the commitment shown by the players on the field and their apparent lack of hunger.
They seem to have finally turned a corner with their victory against Chievo Verona on matchday 27 of the league. The victory was a welcome relief for the San Siro outfit and one that Stankovic sees as a platform to develop something
significant.
While reflecting on their endeavours this season, the Serbian midfielder stated that they were hard done by results, some which they did not deserve. However, he is adamant that positives need to be taken from everything, including
this season.
In an interview, he was quoted as saying:
"It's a tough time but we need to go again. Let's finish this season with our heads held high, proud of what we've achieved and of the season itself. We need to take the positives even if we haven't had big results, and work together,
as a unit. As I've said, if I think about the future, I've got faith because I trust Moratti.”
The midfielder reflected on their week 28 tie, and told the club’s website:
"If I think about the next match, I'm happy to play straight away again at the San Siro, in our stadium. On Sunday we've got Atalanta, awkward opponents, they're having a great season and they have good players. It will be a great
game."
Inter are eight points adrift of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775, who sit in the last qualifying spot for Champions League.
