Dejan Stankovic will finish his career with Inter Milan
Dejan Stankovic has confirmed that he will his finish career with Inter Milan. The Serbian has a contract until 2014 with the Champions of Europe.
The player has spent most of his career in Italy and is settled in Milan. He moved to Inter in 2004 after Roberto Mancini brought him to the club.
Stankovic started his career with Red Star Belgrade and made seven senior appearances for the club at the age of only 16. The player moved to Lazio in 1998 for a fee of £7.8 million. He spent five successful seasons with Lazio and played with a number of
high profile players including Pavel Nedved and Juan Sebastian Veron.
Stankovic played in a variety of roles, but was used mostly as a holding midfielder. He is still renowned for his free kicks and dead balls.
In 2004, Stankovic chose to move to Inter Milan after receiving interest from a number of clubs including Juventus. At Inter Milan Stankovic has won the Seria A title, the Italian Cup and the Champions League.
He made his debut in 1998 for Yugoslavia and he currently plays for Serbia and captained them in their opening two games in the qualifying campaign.  
"I think that I will close out my career at Inter," Stankovic said to Sky Sports. "I have a contract until 2014, and I am 95 percent certain I will not play for any other side. I don't even see myself coaching, but I would like to be a television
commentator, or coaching the Serbian national team alongside [current Fiorentina coach] Sinisa Mihajlovic."
Far from finished Stankovic expects to win more trophies with Rafa Benitez and has featured for Inter Milan regularly so far this season. He has also shown no sign of retiring from international football and hopes to lead Serbia to the European Championships
in 2012
