Dekmeijere/Moulton-Levy defeat Kerber/Yakimova in 1st round – Texas Open 2011
Latvian Līga Dekmeijere and American Megan Moulton-Levy teamed up against German Angelique Kerber and Belarusian Anastasiya Yakimova in the first round of the Texas Open 2011. The teams were contesting against each other for the
first time on the hard courts of Hilton DFW Lakes in Grapevine, Texas. In just 57 minutes and 39 seconds Dekmeijere/Levy won in straight sets of 6-4, 6-2
The German/Belarusian duo had perfected their precision and had geometric precision, even managed to hit 84% of their first serves on target and had secured 15 out of 21, making it a grand 71% in their first serves, along with
a an average second serve that won them a total of 68% of their total service points in the set. Mean while, the Latvian and American couple were unable to respond to their serves and won 32% of the total return points in the set.
Kerber/Yakimova also had a very poor serve, winning only 23% of their total return points against Dekmeijere/Levy, who had an excellent harmony between each other and with not just one but two strong forearms, scored 20 out of
26 points, making it an ostentatious win of 77% in the total service points of the opening set.
In addition, Latvian/American team was able to save one out of one break point, making it a 100% and were also able to break their opponent’s serve once, capitalizing on fifty percent of break points won. Hence, they won the set
by accomplishing 8 more points, making it a 55% win of total set points.
Amidst the second set both the players had struck double faults, with Dekmeijere/Levy committing 2 double faults against their adversary’s who struck one extra net ball.
The Latvian/American pair were a barrage of unstoppable well placed shots, winning an exceptional 89% of their total service points, as well as, not setting up a single break point opportunity for their opponent’s and instead,
broke the German/Belarusian brace twice.
Whilst, Kerber/Yakimova had saved only 50% of their break points and were unable to win any, along with an average serve that won them 52% of the total service points and along with a relatively poorer return in which they were
only able to muster a 11% win in the total return points, they lost the set by achieving a 35% win of their total set points.
Līga Dekmeijere/ Megan Moulton-Levy secured a place in the second round of the event by accomplishing 65% of their total set points which were almost twice as many as their rivals’.
