The Spanish defender, Gerard Pique, recently picked up an injury while playing for Barcelona and Del Bosque has excluded him from the squad that will be taking part in the FIFA World Cup 2014’s qualifiers.

However, the Spanish coach thinks that it would be safe to exclude the Spanish defender from the first-team as he has still not trained for the Catalan side, Barcelona.

Since then the Catalan giants have been without the services of their first-choice defender and have been relying on the make-shift players such as Alex Song and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Mascherano-c18071.
Other miseries which the Catalan giants have to face include the fact that they will be without their captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331, who injured himself while playing against Benfica in the Champions League.
With these two defenders injured, La Blaugrana are without their first-choice centre-backs and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-Song-c4804 is expected to pair up with Javier Mascherano when Barcelona take on their arch-rivals, Real Madrid.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Del Bosque has clearly stated that even though Gerard Pique is an important player for the Spanish national team, he has been excluded from the squad because he is still on his way to recovery and is only a gamble to take as he has still not trained
with the team.
“Pique has not been selected because he has not trained a single day and I do not know if he will play [in El Clasico] on Sunday. I’m not psychic.”
“Because Pique hasn’t trained we don’t think it’s convenient that he comes with us. I have not spoken to Tito Vilanova, the doctors or the player.”
“We’ve brought those players we think are the best at this particular time but of course there are other centre-backs we could have picked, but I choose who I believe can fulfil these games.”
Barcelona will be taking on Real Madrid over the upcoming weekend and Gerard Pique has still not trained with his side, hence it is not confirmed whether he will play against Los Blancos or not.
