Spanish national team's coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-c8330 Puyol’s injury issues ahead of his side’s title defence in Euro 2012.
It was revealed earlier today that Barcelona captain, Puyol, will be sidelined for six weeks as he is to undergo a knee surgery. The operation became a necessity after the defender suffered a knock in his side’s derby clash against Espanyol.
As La Blaugrana emerged 4-0 victorious over their city rivals this past Saturday, the match that took place at the Nou Camp saw the Catalan player sustain an injury. The injury proved substantial as a surgery on Puyol’s knee has become compulsory according
to physicians.
Del Bosque has conceded that the 34-year-old’s absence from the Spanish squad may prove to be a serious liability for La Roja.
As his team embarks on their Euro adventure in Ukraine and Poland this summer, they will be faced with stiff competition from all across the continent. The defending champions of Europe will take up the challenge of Italy in the first match of their Euro
campaign.
Consequently, the former Real Madrid manager has appeared rather worried as his team is also likely to be missing the services of another Barcelona player, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Japan-c2928.
Although the striker is reported to be on his way back there is still a possibility that he may be ruled unfit to feature for La Roja Furia in the summer.
Del Bosque discussed the absence of both of the players and admitted that his side will suffer due to it.
While talking to reporters, the 61-year-old was quoted as saying:
"This is a big setback. Villa is a serious doubt. We are worried, as it is very hard to call up someone if they cannot play a single match."
