The Barcelona club captain recently picked up an injury which saw him dislocating his elbow and Del Bosque has wished him all the luck as he will once again be omitted from the Spanish team.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 captain, Carles Puyol, dislocated his elbow against the Portuguese side, Benfica, during the UEFA Champions League encounter.
The Catalan giants won the match 2-0, thanks to goals scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331, who dislocated his elbow after landing awkwardly on his own arm.
Puyol is considered to be an integral part of the Barcelona first-team, but luck has not been on his side lately.
The Spaniard injured his knee right at the end of the last season and had to go through a surgery which kept him out of action throughout the summer, which means that he missed the successful Euro 2012 triumph of the Spanish national team.
While Puyol is out, the Spanish giants rely a lot on Gerard Pique, who also injured his ankle during the game against Spartak Moscow and is currently sidelined not only for Barcelona, but also for the Spanish national team.
Carles Puyol and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique are both out of action at the moment and Barcelona are not the only team who will be suffering because of their absence.
While the Catalan giants will have to adjust with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Albiol.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Del Bosque is currently sweating because of the injuries picked up by his first-choice defenders and believes that Puyol’s absence will be heavily felt by the Spanish team.
While speaking about Puyol’s absence, Del Bosque said:
“I’ve not spoken to him but I’ve sent him a message wishing him a speedy recovery. It’s a shame because we rely on him a lot.”
“He’s a good guy who gets across what he wants and his presence is very important. However, he has been very unlucky so we hope he recovers and comes back to play his 100th match for his country.”
Puyol is expected to return after eight weeks which means that he will be missing El Clasico scheduled to take place over the Weekend.
