The former Fiorentina boss gives his two cents on the veteran striker’s chances at Euro 2012; hails the improvement of Antonio Cassano

Prandelli visited the training camps of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 yesterday, and revealed that anyone who fits his criteria of selection will remain open to a Euro 2012 trip. The Italian faces a dearth of strike options, as several of his
first-choice strikers are sidelined through injuries.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giuseppe-Rossi-c15027 has been ruled out of the European competitions due to a latest setback in his recovery from a knee problem. On the other hand, doubts remain over Antonio Cassano’s participation in the competition as well, as the
AC Milan striker is still recovering from his heart surgery. Cassano made a comeback to action in a recent league game, but he is still a long way from gaining full match fitness.
When enquired about the possible selection of Del Piero and Totti, Prandelli voiced his respect for the strike duo, and insisted that these two names have a lot to contribute for the Nazionale.
The former Fiorentina boss insisted that his criteria for selection does not depend on age, rather he sees experience, form and fitness as the parameters of selection.
While talking to the reporters, Prandelli enthused:
“When it comes to dealing with Totti and Del Piero, it requires great respect. Will they be called up for Euro 2012? It is best not to say things like that, but they have certainly given a great deal to Italian football and I am
convinced they have much to give. The evaluations I will make when choosing a squad will not only be regarding their birth certificates.”
Gli Azzurri head-coach is satisfied with the progress Cassano has made recently, and is confident that his star striker will be fit in time for the tournament.
