The Impact sporting director reveals that the veteran refused a move to the MLS outfit based in Canada stating that he would prefer LA Galaxy or New York.
Director of sport for Montreal Impact, Nick De Santis, has revealed that they had made a move to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Del-Piero-c4726, but the door was shut in their face by the striker because he prefers other MLS sides over the Impact.
The Italian legend will be out of contract with Juventus at the end of the ongoing season, and while the player has confirmed that he will keep playing the game, speculation surrounds as to what will be the next destination for the maestro.
Reports suggest that MLS is the most likely place for the star, once he opts to depart from Serie A, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Montreal-Impact-c39946 have revealed that the striker has ruled them out of the running.
The sporting director for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Canada-c748 based outfit told that the club tried to sign the Bianconeri ace, but the player turned them down saying that he has his eyes set for other sides in the American league. The executive insisted that the club has accepted
the decision of the player, and no further negotiations have occurred between the two parties.
While talking to TMW, The representative for the Montreal Impact said:
“In January we contacted Del Piero, but the player turned us down. The player told us he prefers LA Galaxy or New York, so we took it on board and abandoned the option without coming back to it.”
Nick De Santis went on to say that although a long time has passed since the contact with the striker, but the club is still ready to welcome the player to Montreal if he changes his mind.
“There has been no further contact, so it’s an old story. Of course, if he were to change his mind, then we certainly wouldn’t slam the door in his face...”
Although Montreal Impact are a Canadian club, they are a part of the American Major League Soccer. If Del Piero decides to move to the club, he will not be the only player from Serie A at the establishment as the club already has the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bernardo-Corradi-c7546
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Matteo-Ferrari-c24795.
