Delay in hearing of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s trio to be decided via teleconference by ICC
The International Cricket council (ICC) has decided to review the hearing date of the Pakistani trio of Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif. The former Pakistan captain Salman Butt requested the ICC to delay the hearing until the final report is
submitted by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 Yard.
ICC will have a teleconference with the lawyers of the players to decide on the date tomorrow. The report which is due to be submitted by the Scotland Yard will have the details of the initial inquiry from the players after they were alleged by the tabloid
newspaper, News of The World, of being involved in spot fixing.
The request was however only submitted from Butt and the two pace bowlers Asif and Amir didn’t request the ICC to delay the hearing. The ICC spokesman said that the sports governing body would like to confirm from Asif and Amir about the delay in the hearing.
The ICC official said, “The ICC would also like to hear from Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir’s lawyers since we got a postponement request from Salman’s counsel only. All three would be taken into confidence before any change in the hearing schedule.”
The lawyer of Amir, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-c89347 Karim confirmed the news of the teleconference but he didn’t give any hint whether he will be in favour of the delay or not. He was quoted as saying this to the Pakistani media. Asif, on the other hand, also stated that he will
first talk to his lawyer regarding the delay and then take a final decision on it.
Talking to the media Asif said, “I would consult my lawyer before taking a decision on the postponement in the hearing schedule as I have no idea of its repercussions.” Karim, the layer of Amir also said that he will do whatever is in favour of his client.
He quoted, “We are prepared but will look whether the delay would go in our favour. We will decide about it in due course.”
There is a doubt that Amir would go in the favour of the delay as he is expecting some leniency from the ICC due to his age and inexperience. He expects to be selected in the World Cup after he is cleared from the ICC.
