Question:

Delay on HD-TV?

Well, I just got an HD-TV and I plugged my xbox 360 into the component and when I push a button on the controller there is a little bit of a delay from when I pushed the button to when it shows up on the screen. This didn't happen on my other TV that wasnt HD. On other TVs that were flat panel and HD i've seen the same thing. It happens to my friend on his TV but he has gotten used to it. When this happens it affects the gameplay for me on xbox live and when im just playing by myself, and I don't like to play like this. If anyone knows why this happens or if there is a way to fix it and make it so there is no delay then please reply back. Also my TV is not flat panel it is just flat screen and widescreen. Thank you.

  1. All HDTVs buffer their video, They do this because of the way digital signals are broadcasted. You can best see this delay or video lag when changing channels; the screen goes black for 2-3 seconds while the next channel's video information is buffered. This does affect gaming. The only way to fix this is to purchase a HDTV with a gaming mode. Gaming modes reduce the buffering and, therefore, reduce the video lag. This gives you a much better real-time gaming experience.
