i have 2 files in my documents that i cant delete, if i right click on them i jus get ´view edit send to etc...´ and if i try highlighting and pressing delete it wont do it as the file name is invalid, ive tried lots of different programs which claim they can fix this but it turns out the file name is too long, i read about delinvfile on some website, downloaded that and installed just to be told the trial period was already up and i had to register. any similar programs or techniques that i dont know about, please any help greatly appreciated, the missus get back from holiday tomorrow and they need to disappear ;) *BURN IN h**l LIMEWIRE*

  1. Deleting files that will not delete can be frustrating. Ususally the problem is because the file is in use by windows and cannot be deleted. You can look in the task manager (ctrl + alt + delete) and look in the proccess tab. If you can find the culprit, just end that proccess and attempt to delete.

If the file still does not delete you can boot into safe mode (tap F8 at boot repeatedly) and choose to boot into safe mode. This loads only the absolute neccessary drivers and you should now be able to delete the file.

If the file still does not delete you can move on to the sure fire methods. Manually delete the undeletable file or get a program to do it for you. Follow the link below for instructions.

The easiest way is to get a program, I recommend Remove on Reboot Shell Extension.

  2. limewire....lol!!!  first, delete limewire.  go into your programs and delete it manually.  good luck with that.  then go into add/remove programs and try to delete lime wire from there too.  if it is not there then you probably got it all from the manually deleting of the file.  now try to delete the files you want.  if you still cant,  try to find the files in your program files folder.  only delete the files that you want to get rid of.....DO NOT DELETE ANY OTHER FILES!!!!  the files that you want to get rid of are probable .exe files that are blocked from deleting so add/remove doe not do the trick.  you have to find each file...open the folder and delete the .exe file if you can.   then try to delete the whole folder.   if this all does not work then try using spyware removers like adaware, yahoo anti spy, and microsoft malicious software remover.  good luck and i hope you do not get into trouble.

  3. Can i just say first, why on earth did you share my documents for? bad security idea, always make a folder on ur desktop.

Now i had this problem, if you delete the whole folder that it is in, then it will delete, make sure u send all the rest of the stuff in ur documents (that you wanna keep) to a folder on ur desktop until u have done this, then you can put everything back again.

  4. Phillip:  Go to your run menu and type in regedit and hit enter.  Do a registry check for the name of file you want to delete, If the file name is found delete the file name from your registry, and you will be able to delete the file.

    Good Luck

  5. search from google.ee "unlocker program" download it (free) the right click on file...unlock and delete it! =)
