Deleting modified photos in iPhoto?

Can I delete my "Modified" folder in the itunes library folder? I don't modify my photos in iphoto, so I dont know why its taking up all this bullshit space. I just want the originals, exactly how there were on the camera. Is deleting the modified folder going to s***w something up?
